Group-Sponsored Consciousness Personified Contest
Details
Deadline: | Sep 15, 2021 |
Fee: | Free |
Third Drawer Down invites you to enter the world of Magical Realism—Consciousness Personified. What we’re looking for is giving an inanimate object life in a way that feels natural. Any child with an imagination did this with their toys, and with the monsters under the bed. But this needs to be subtle. If you’ve read Sarah Addison Allen you might recall how a house refused to allow doors to open, how a tree’s fruit held visions of the future and tried to entice those that needed to know to eat of the fruit. We’re looking for stories that feel magically natural, stories to rekindle our imagination. Stories can be flash, short story, or narrative poetry, but must be complete. No novels or partial stories.
Our contest will be judged by members of the staff of Mythaxis Review and Unreal Magazine, including General Editor & Author Daniel Scott White, Author & Poet Douglas Cole, and Sci-Fi Author & Interviewer Chris Morton. Each brings a unique perspective to the table and all look forward to judging your work.
Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.
