The Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund
Are you considering hosting a member-sponsored writing contest on Scribophile?
Scribophile is built on the philosophy of supporting new and emerging writing talent, and one of the best ways to do that is to host regular contests so that writers can flex their writing muscles. To that end, Scribophile sponsors a cash prize fund that you can apply to draw from, at no cost to you, so that you can offer cash prizes for the Scribophile-only contest you want to host.
Currently we’ll fund up to $225 USD worth of cash prizes per contest ($100 first place, $75 second, $50 third).
How does this all work?
Like all member-sponsored contests on Scribophile, creating, maintaining, and judging a contest is entirely up to you, the contest host. Here’s what the process looks like:
You get an idea for a writing contest you want to host.
You apply for prize fund sponsorship by following the instructions below.
Your application is accepted, and your contest with cash prizes from the fund is listed in our writing contest listing.
After the contest is over and you’ve selected winners, you’ll forward them to us and we’ll transfer the cash prizes directly to them via PayPal.
You recline in your easy chair, glowing with a satisfied smile.
Apply for prize fund sponsorship
Please review the following requirements, and then contact us with a pitch for a contest idea.
Contests must meet all the listing requirements in our member-sponsored contest listing guidelines.
Contests must not be calls for submissions for a publication of any kind, even a not-for-profit publication.
You must have a reputation score of at least 300 to apply for the Prize Fund.
Include the dollar amount you want to use for your contest prizes. Currently the maximum is $225 per contest. You can’t distribute the maximum amount to a single winner; please be fair. Remember you may also include other prizes along with cash, like karma points or something more creative.
We may decline a prize fund sponsorship application for any reason. We’re more likely to decline applications with controversial or contentious themes, for which our sponsorship may suggest Scribophile endorses a particular viewpoint. In particular, applications with political or religious themes will be declined. However, if your declined prize fund sponsorship application still meets the basic listing requirements, we can list your contest regardless.
We can only offer direct PayPal transfers for cash prizes, so winners are required to have a PayPal account.
