Member-Sponsored Talk To Me : Dialog Only Contest
Details
Deadline: | Sep 30, 2014 |
Fee: | Free |
“Listen to what you have written. A dud rhythm in a passage of dialogue may show that you don't yet understand the characters well enough to write in their voices."
― Helen Dunmore
Dialog can make or break a good story. Whether you are writing a 700 page literary novel or 1,000 word sci-fi story, chances are dialog will be a part of your story. Dialog can push your story forward when done well, or drag your story down if done poorly. In order to write good dialog you have to know your characters.
In the spirit of all writers on Scribophile finding common ground, Rose Marie Sloan is sponsoring a dialog-only contest. Submit fully developed stories told only in dialog. Story length may not exceed 1,500 words. You may have as many characters as you want, but no narration and no tag lines. These are the only rules. You can be as creative as you want provided you stick to the word limit and dialog only.
